Course Description
Catchers, Cross Catchers and S-Wrap are all moves in which the body is inverted and supported by a wrap around the waist with one leg hooked on the post. The difference between the three lies in the positioning of the tail relative to the post and the body.
UNIT 1 – INTRODUCTION TO CATCHERS AND S-WRAPS
The introductory unit of this course will provide you with a clear definition for Catchers, Cross Catchers, S-Wraps and U-Locks. We’ll cover entires to each individual skill as well as a variety of exit options to ensure you have a confident grasp of each move’s basic techniques.
UNIT 2 – ENTRIES TO CATCHERS AND S-WRAPS
In this unit we are going to cover a range of alternative entries to Catchers, Cross Catchers and S-Wrap. In the Foundation Level course, you will have covered the initial entries to Catchers (Catchers from Invert – wrapped and unwrapped). We are going to expand upon these entries, as the great thing about Catchers is the number of ways we can get into the same position.
UNIT 3 – CATCHERS AND S-WRAP SKILLS
The varying entrances to Catchers and S-Wrap can be challenging enough for some students, but others will want to know what they can do once they get there. This unit covers skills that range from being suitable for beginners up to more technical balances and transitions to keep your students progressing.
UNIT 4 – COMBINATIONS AND CREATIVITY
Catchers is one of the most natural skills to include in a combination. You can get into a Catchers from a huge variety of entrance points, and use some really innovative skills, poses and transitions when you get there. This unit will provide a set of fixed combinations, as well as a combinations toolbox to inspire your own combinations and freestyle activities.
UNIT 5 – CATCHERS AND S-WRAP SAFETY
The final unit of the course covers Catchers- and S-Wrap-specific health and safety considerations and provides and overview of the health and safety fundamental, covered in our Foundation Silks Instructor Course, including concepts such as public liability insurance and risk assessments.
