Course Details

The Spin City Pole Fitness Beginners Instructor Course provides a strong foundation in safe, effective pole fitness instruction. It covers a wide range of fundamental skills and key coaching techniques, including ground-based moves, beginner spins, climbs, and seats on the pole – with brand new content to support your teaching and keep your classes fresh!

The latest update to the course adds a series of progression moves to help your students build confidence and get ready for intermediate level training. This includes more challenging skills up the pole and an introduction to basic invert technique. This comprehensive course equips you with a structured syllabus to ensure your students progress safely, while also including additional content to help them build strength, stamina, and conditioning.

This course includes two modules; a Coaching module to cover essential theory and the Pole module with the full beginners syllabus. If you’ve already completed the Coaching module, you won’t need to repeat it!

AFAA and NASM members can earn the following Continuing Education Units on completion of this course: AFAA 1.5 CEUs, NASM 1.9 CEUs. CIMSPA members can claim 10 CPD points on completion of this course.

This course is designed for teaching on static poles including chrome, stainless steel, brass and powder coated finishes.

Course requirements

You will need:

  • To meet the minimum age requirement of 18 years or older.
  • A minimum of 1 years’ pole fitness experience (recommended).
  • Access to the internet via a PC, laptop, or mobile device.
  • Access to at least 1 static pole, safely mounted in an appropriate training environment.
  • A minimum of 2 hours’ study/training time per week (to complete the course within the 1-year deadline).
  • A device to film videos on (mobile phones are allowed).
  • At least 1 student of a suitable ability level for the teaching assessment (aged 18 or older).
  • Basic first aid and anatomy knowledge is also recommended.

Course assessment

This course has two main parts to the assessment; a theory assessment and a practical assessment.

Spin City are dedicated to ensuring the assessment process is accessible to learners that meet the training course enrolment criteria. If you have a learning need, there will be a place to declare this on your enrolment form. We are also able to offer a limited selection of reasonable adjustments where individuals may find particular practical elements prohibitive. Please contact our mentoring team for more information relevant to your individual circumstances.

Theory AssessmentPractical Assessment
Answer theory questions related to each unit of the course. Questions are multiple choice, or short answers.

Practical demonstration. Perform a continuous sequence of five moves from the pole syllabus.


Teaching demonstration. Teach three individual moves (from units 3, 4 and 5) to at least one student of a suitable ability level.
You will have 1 year from the date you are enrolled onto the course to complete the online study and assessment.

Please note: Before completing the final assessment for this course, you must have completed the Coaching module practical assessments (outlined below), which is included with your purchase of any Spin City Beginner Level Course.

Class introduction. Deliver an introduction for a typical pole/aerial class.

Warm up. Deliver a full warm up appropriate for a typical pole/aerial class, including visual demonstration and verbal cueing.

Teaching demonstration. Teach a ground-based conditioning move to at least one student.

Cool down. Deliver a full cool down appropriate for a typical pole/aerial class, including visual demonstration and verbal cueing.
