This two-day in-person course will provide you with the necessary skills to start teaching confident and effective aerial hoop classes for adults with a focus on fitness.

The course allows personal interaction with our qualified tutor and an in-person practical assessment.  On successful completion of the training course you will leave with a Spin City certification in basic coaching and a Spin City certification in beginners aerial hoop.

PRE-COURSE PREPARATION:
Before the course you will need to watch the online videos and read through the provided course manuals.

FACE-TO-FACE COURSE:
The weekend includes full training from one of our tutors. Over the weekend you will be assessed on what you have been taught through modular assessments.
The theory assessment is a written quiz with some multiple choice and short answer questions based on information from the course.
The practical assessment is in two parts; the basic coaching module and the hoop module.

Coaching module: you will be required to give a class introduction, teach a warm up, teach a cool down and teach one conditioning move.
Hoop module: you will be required to demonstrate a combination of five moves from the course and teach three individual moves from the course.

What qualifications/certifications do I need to attend this course?

You don’t need any qualifications to attend the course, we do recommend that you have a minimum of 1 year's hoop experience as a student.   


Basic first aid and anatomy knowledge is also useful but not essential.  

What’s included in the course price?

The course price includes lifetime access to our course video library, professionally printed course manuals, access to a pre- and post-course mentor by email/phone and a full weekend's tuition with one of our qualified tutor assessors.


Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate in Basic Coaching and Beginners Hoop.


In the event of a reassessment there is no charge. 

What is the minimum age to attend this course?

You must be 18 or over to complete a certification with Spin City, otherwise the certificate will be invalid. You will be asked to confrim that you meet the age requirements at the time of booking. 

What do I need to do before the in-person course?

There is a course manual to read and you’ll also need to watch the course videos.  Everything else is covered on the training weekend. 


 

What is covered in the course?

The course covers everything you’ll need to start teaching a class including; basic health and safety, student screening, how to teach a safe warm up and cool down, how to teach beginner level hoop moves, how to safely spot moves, class planning and preparing combinations.

Our courses are recognised by insurers worldwide and your certificate will assist you to obtain public liability and professional indemnity insurance that will cover you for teaching. 

Who will I be able to teach with this course certificate?

The Spin City courses have been written for adults who are apparently healthy in the general population. With your certificates you can expect your insurers to cover you to teach adults over the age of 18.


Insurance companies will require you to hold an additional certification to teach any group that is termed as a 'special population', which includes children and young people (under the age of 18), older adults (over the age of 55), pre- and post-natal women and those with disabilities.  

What if I don't pass the assessments?

Theory: if you do not pass the theory test, your tutor will give you time to review the unit information and retake the test over the weekend; they may ask supplementary questions as part of the retake. If you are unable to retake the theory test on the course weekend, you will be given a chance to complete it online.


Practical:  in the event that you do noot pass any of the practical units, you will receive detailed feedback and an action plan that will give clear instructions of what is needed for you to achieve a full pass. You may be able to retake the unit over the weekend. If not you will be handed over to our online assessor and mentor who will provide you with support over email/phone and who will guide you through the reassessment process. 


You will have up to 6 months to complete your practical re-assessment by video submission.

Can I attend the course and take my assessment at a later date?

You may be able to carry out your assessment at a later date, within 6 months of your course. A video submission can be sent in at no additional cost, a face-to-face assessment may be arranged at a cost of £60 (to cover venue hire, administration and the cost of the assessor). Any bookings for such face-to-face assessments must be made at least one month in advance unless we agree otherwise.

What are my options if I book a place and then can’t make the course?

Contact us as soon as possible for any changes to your course booking.You can transfer to another date/venue for the same course, provided you give us at least 30 days’ notice. There is a £45 fee to transfer which must be paid before the course transfer can be completed.


Within 30 days of the course you can cancel your attendance and receive a 50% refund of the price paid. You will retain access to the learning materials and have the option to re-enrol at a 50% discount at a future date.If you have an unexpected injury, illness, or pregnancy please contact us to discuss your options.
